Captain

Onur Ergun

Captain Onur is a 38 year old sailing professional with 18 years of experience in the industry. He was born in Düzce, Turkey, and currently lives with his family in Göcek, Muğla. Throughout his career, Captain Onur has sailed extensively in various regions, including the Aegean, Mediterranean, Adriatic, Ionian, and Black Seas. His journey on the Orient Star began as a deckhand and, within a year, he was promoted to the position of first officer. In 2018, he briefly left the industry to gain further experience before returning as a captain. Captain Onur has been highly successful in his role, earning the appreciation and respect of both customers and crew members. When he is not on duty, Captain Onur enjoys spending quality time with his family and engaging in outdoor activities such as walking, swimming, and immersing himself in nature. He is fluent in both Turkish and English.

Isa Besicki

Isa is 40 years old. He graduated from Maritime Technical School in 2001 and has worked on commercial cargo ships as well as gaining experience as an Engineer on a number of superyachts. He is extremely passionate about mechanical engineering and has been part of the ORIENT STAR team for 5 years. He lives in Fethiye, Turkey and is a father to two daughters, 12 and 4 years old. In his spare time, he likes watching movies and enjoys all water sports.

Uğur Yıldız

Uğur is a 34-year-old seasoned Chief Officer who has been an integral part of the Orient Star team for a decade, demonstrating remarkable professionalism and an exceptional eye for detail. After graduating from High School in Istanbul, Turkey, he launched his maritime career in 2010 in Marmaris, where he has since honed his skills across both sailing and powerboats.

Uğur's ascent in the yachting industry is a testament to his dedication and commitment to excellence. As a vital member of the crew, he meticulously ensures the safety and efficiency of every operation, earning the respect of his colleagues and solidifying his role as a leader on board. In his personal time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as music, walking, swimming, and exploring historical sites. Fluent in both Turkish and English, Uğur is adept at navigating diverse environments and fostering effective communication within the maritime community.

Mehmet Ali Balcı

Mehmet Ali is a 30-year-old maritime professional who has been with Orient Star for five years. After graduating from Mehmet Ali Sıtkı Koçman University, he embarked on his maritime career in 2014 in Marmaris, Turkey, where he was born and raised. Coming from a lineage of seafaring tradition, with both his father and grandfather having served as captains, he is deeply inspired to follow in their footsteps.

Throughout his career, Mehmet Ali has gained experience working on both gulets and motorboats, continuously striving to enhance his expertise in the maritime industry. He is committed to building a long-term career in this field. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football, engaging in various sports, listening to music, and traveling. Fluent in Turkish and proficient in English, he is well-equipped to navigate both local and international waters.

Ali Can, a passionate maritime professional at 25 years old, has cultivated a deep love for the sea from a young age. Since embarking on his maritime career in 2016, he has immersed himself in the world of water sports and diving, gaining invaluable experience aboard gullets and private and charter motor yachts. His enthusiasm for these activities not only fuels his professional journey but also reflects his commitment to exploring the ocean's wonders. In 2024, he joined Orient Star, further enhancing his career in this vibrant industry. Beyond his professional pursuits, Alican dedicates his time to bodybuilding, diving, and golfing, showcasing his active lifestyle and unwavering passion for aquatic adventures. His strong work ethic and genuine love for water sports make him a remarkable asset in the maritime realm.

Passionate about travel, respect, and cultural exchange, Andjela finds joy in the unique experiences that yachting offers. She embraces every new day aboard Orient Star with enthusiasm, looking forward to the adventures ahead.

Charlotte Becker

Charlotte, born and raised in Sweden. She have always thrived in social and dynamic environments, which led her to a career in hospitality. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, she had the opportunity to work in various roles, most recently as a Banquet & Conference Manager at a Michelin Guide hotel. She’s on her second year in the yachting industry.

Her journey started in high school, where she studied to become a chef for three years. This education provided her with a strong foundation in food and service. Outside of work, music, singing and fitness are some of her biggest passions.

Ceire Shannon Cunningham

Ceire, born in South Africa, grew up with a love for the sea and, of course, sunshine. She obtained a degree in Clothing Retail Management and has a passion for fashion, often making her own clothes. Ceire has worked in various land-based jobs, including running a plastic surgeon’s practice for two years.

She has since transitioned into the yachting industry. After setting high standards during her first season, she is excited to further utilize her skill set.

Ceire remains positive and always keeps a smile on her face, no matter what challenges come her way. She loves meeting and interacting with new people. In her free time, she enjoys being active and outdoors—wherever the sun is, you’ll find her!
